What is your WORD for 2017?

Happy New Year!! Happy 2017!

I’ve always liked the whole starting of a new year; fresh starts and new beginnings and all that good stuff. Even though I’m not big on resolutions exactly, I still use the New Year as a time of reflection and refocusing on what I want in my life. The past couple years, I have done this with one simple word. This word is like a theme for the year and something for me to focus on. It is how I want my life to feel every day. If you have read The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte then you are aware of the idea of living your life based on how you want to feel and that is exactly what this word does for me.

Last year, my word was JOY. I wanted to feel joy in all areas of my life and on a daily basis. Having this word as a reminder really did allow me to see more things that brought me joy and allowed for more joyful experiences with my children and my family throughout each day. 2016 was a great year for me!

This year, for 2017, my one word is EASE.

What is your WORD for 2017?

The definition of ease is:

freedom from labor, pain, or physical annoyance; tranquil rest;comfort:

to enjoy one’s ease.

freedom from concern, anxiety, or solicitude; a quiet state of mind:

to be at ease about one’s health.

freedom from difficulty or great effort; facility:

It can be done with ease.

freedom from financial need; plenty:

a life of ease on a moderate income.
For me, ease means effortlessly going through our day without worrying so much; totally simplifying our lives and downsizing the amount of stuff we have; feeling good in my body and mind; having a daily mindfulness practice and morning routine that includes my children; practising self-care and self-love without guilt.

Once you have your word, you can incorporate it into your life in various ways in order to keep it fresh in your mind and consciousness. Create a vision/dream board around your word, put it on your fridge, write out your goals with your word in mind, use it as wallpaper for your phone-whatever works for you!

So, tell me what your word is for 2017?! How do you want to feel this year?

With love and ease,
Tina

  1. I’ve been hearing about this idea to pick a word for the year a lot the past couple of weeks. Maybe it’s a sign I should pick one. I wrote out goals and set my intentions for 2017. I also want to simplify our life including our home, our spending, and our schedules. I want to live this year more intentionally and mindful.

    1. I love that Melissa!

  2. I haven’t picked a word this year. Last year it was Truth. I’m not exactly sure why I haven’t this year, yet. If I had to answer the question how do I want to feel this year, the answer, at least today, would be better. I want to be a better version of myself. I want to be better to my family. I want to do better, be better.

    1. Truth is a great word! Being better is an awesome goal and I think you could find your word in thinking about how being better looks to you. Good luck!

  3. I haven’t really spent much time thinking about what I want for myself this year. I ave been busy thinking about what is and will be happening in our country and how it will affect others (those in marginalized groups). I guess my word could be “strong” so I have the strength to stand up for those who are persucuted, attacked, etc. just for being who they are.

    1. Strong is a great word!

  4. I like the word ease. I was just telling my husband that our life, no matter what we seem to do, is so complicated. I want so much for things to just work, be fluid, and just feel better. It is our continual goal as part of our Sanity Plan.

    1. Yes, I totally understand! I hope you find that this year!

  5. Ease is a great word, I hope it does well for you this year. Still trying to come up with mine.
I like the concept. Nice read, thanks!

    1. Thanks so much Amy!

  6. Ease sounds wonderful! I’ll def. have to take some time and think about my word. I think mine may be – trust. Trust that things are unfolding as they should.

    Best of luck!

    1. I love that word Catia! Thank you and good luck to you too!
