Giving Myself a Break + Life Update!

life update

Hello Beautiful People!

I took an unplanned blogging break but I’m back! The first week that I took off from blogging caused me a little stress because I felt bad for not blogging. And then, the second week I just decided that I obviously needed this break and so I was just going to allow it. I was going to allow myself this time to rest (Ha! As much as a mama can rest.) and reboot and then come back refreshed when I was ready.
During my “time off” I just focused on all the other goodness in my life; I played with my kids more, spent quality time with Hubby, allowed time for self-care, and started a major downsizing (which I will talk about more soon!) And it was lovely!

I think it’s important as mothers/women to listen to ourselves and cut ourselves some slack every now and then. We tend to try to do it all, which can lead to stress and a less joyful life. The world is not going to end if I don’t blog for a couple weeks or the floors don’t get mopped every day week. If we can remember that, I think we would all be a little happier and more present with our families and focus more on the important stuff.

Life Update

Another reason I’ve been a little preoccupied, is a big upcoming change in our lives! WE’RE MOVING!! We are moving back to our home town in the next month and I’m so excited! We found a beautiful house to buy (it’s not actually beautiful right now but it will be!) I look forward to sharing some before and afters and DIY projects on the blog with you all! We have been busy planning, organizing our things and all the other not so fun stuff that comes with a big move. This is our first move with kids and I can see that it will have some challenges, especially with trying to paint a house and such whilst occupying children. Thankfully we will have help!

We have been busy going through all the things we currently own and deciding what we want to move with us and what we are ready to let go of. I want to be very intentional with the items we bring into our new home and only have things that serve a purpose and bring us joy. I have been feeling a pull toward minimalism and for the first time in my life, I feel really good about getting rid of the stuff we just don’t need. This move is the perfect opportunity to do just that!

Life Update

It’s going to be a big change and adjustment for our family but I am looking forward to it. I look forward to making this new house our home, meeting new friends and reconnecting with old ones, new adventures and new opportunities. Change can be difficult for kids and I’m not quite sure how mine will react yet. We have kept them in the loop but I know, for my oldest especially, that there will be some sadness leaving friends and the only home they’ve known, but we will support them through all of their feelings during this transition time.

I know this post has been a little all over but I’m happy to be back and hope to post more regularly again. I will try to keep you updated throughout this whole moving process and we have some other fun things coming up that I will blog about too! I post regularly on Instagram so be sure to follow me there for all the in between fun!

Much love to you all! Do you feel guilty about taking a break every now and then? Do you have any words of wisdom for me about moving with kids?

Talk soon,

And, yes, I usually feel guilty when I take a break from ANYTHING, but you’re right that it’s important to listen to ourselves and allow priorities to shift as needed. Good for you for recognizing it in yourself.

Congrats on finding a house Tina! If it’s not too strange given our (shall I say complicated?) family history I would love to get together one day when you are settled in. I think our daughters would love to meet each other 🙂 Good luck with the move with kids. I don’t envy you that! Hope it goes smoothly!
